A HISTORY OF INNOVATION

LEADING LOCAL DISTRIBUTOR SINCE 2000

HEITEK AUTOMATION — A TIMELINE

What started more than 15 years ago as a small pneumatic distributor has transformed into the Southwest’s premier distributor of automation products and solutions.
  • 2000

In 2000, Dan Heiling formed Heitek Automation as Hei-Tek Automation in Phoenix, Arizona. The company started in a small office in north Phoenix near Rose Garden & 19th Ave. The company began with only two employees and a handful of lines, including Tolomatic, Yamaha Robotics, Polyconn and Camozzi, all of which the company still supports today.

  • 2001

In 2001, Heitek purchased Porter’s Fluid Power and consolidated offices to the Porter’s location near 32nd Avenue and Thomas Roads. The new company now had eight employees and with the acquisition came new lines into the fold, including MAC Valves. Shortly after, PHD & Bimba would select Heitek as channel partners. Joining the MDN meant a synergy of lines, growing the company into much of what you see today.

  • 2003

In 2003, new projects and opportunities led to the creation of the Value Add department. With the addition of this team, Heitek was now more capable than ever, providing customers with new kitting and assembly services. Needing additional space, Heitek moved its headquarters near 7th Street and Deer Valley, where we would remain for 12 years.

  • 2005

In 2005, as our services focus broadened, Heitek Automation created an entire engineering department, giving the company new offerings to include design engineering services and manufacturing capabilities. This newly formed department ushered in our UL 508 era in 2006, when we opened our control panel shop. Additionally, this team enabled Heitek to enter new markets and in 2007, we added electrical controls to our offerings.

  • 2009

As the recession took hold of the economy in 2009, it opened up new possibilities for us, including adding new sensors and vision lines to our line-up. Additional opportunities included the expansion of our facility to 9,000 sq. ft. in 2011 and subsequently broke the 20 employee mark in 2012. That same year, we added a major controls line to the fold. With it came new capabilities and solutions for our customers.

  • 2015

In August 2015, after two record years of growth, we moved to a new 16,000 square-foot facility near Rose Garden and 19th Avenue. This move expanded our warehouse, engineering and value-add space, giving us a stronger ability to support our customers.

Shortly after our move, we added Siemens into the fold. As one of the largest controls suppliers in the world, the Siemens addition gives us unrivaled capability and a superior offering for our customers.

  • 2018

Heitek expands its customer reach by opening branches and stocking facilities in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Golden, Colorado.
